TRIMAZINE BOLUS

Composition

Each bolus contains:
Trimethoprim - 200mg
Sulfadiazine - 1000mg

The two active components of Trimazine are synthetic chemotherapeutic agents.
They have a bactericidal activity against most gram-positive and gram-negative pathogenic bacteria.

Indications

SYSTEMIC treatment of susceptible gram-positive and gram-negative infections due to trimethoprim and sulfadiazine sensitive microorganisms in foals, calves, sheep and pigs. INTRAUTERINE: For prevention and treatment of postparturient bacterial infections, in mares, cows, sows and ewes.

Dosage

Oral: - Intestinal infections, such as bacterial scours in calves and systemic infections, such as calf "diphtheria", acute salmonellosis, bacterial pneumonia etc. in calves, sheep, foals and pigs and may be used for larger dogs such as greyhounds.
1 bolus/40kg bodyweight. Repeat daily until 2 days after symptoms have subsided. In the case of salmonellosis and bacterial pneumonia in calves, treatment should be continued for at least 5 days. Bolus may be given by hand, bailing gun or dispersed in drinking water.

Intrauterine
Mares & Cows 2-4 boluses, sows and ewes: 1-2 boluses.
Repeat as required. Maybe inserted whole into uterus or dispersed with warm water and administered through a catheter.

Withholding Period

Do not administer later than 14 days to sheep, cattle and horses or 15 days to pigs before slaughter for human consumption. Milk taken from animals within 36 hours of a single treatment, or 72 hours of the last of a multiple treatment, must not be used for human consumption.
